Glass over Plastic

One of the many things that drew us into the apothecary business was packaging. I’m not talking about pretty or fancy packaging, I’m referring to how the product is stored. How a product is stored determines if the integrity of natural ingredients is preserved. I have been weary of plastics for years, mainly for how the leaching chemicals which plastic is made of would affect my food, drinks and skincare. Why spend time and energy looking for the best products when they are stored in something we are told to avoid and why worry about other chemicals eventually escaping into your product. Glass storage containers are not only more earth friendly, it is the best way to store skincare. Being in the beauty industry we have noticed that that glass bottles, jars and vials are better in protecting the ingredients of natural skincare products. We have noticed a increase amount of companies switching from plastic to glass containers not only for aesthetic reasons but health reasons as well.   After months of research while trying to grow our brand I found a wealth of information to help make our decisions. Glass is good as it increases the shelf life, prevents light degradation and energizes organic and botanical ingredients. In addition, glass containers ensure no biochemical integration. Meaning you do not need to worry about chemicals from the container getting into the product your going to use on your body! If you take time to notice many of the natural and organic skin care products are indeed sold in glass bottles, jars and vials.  Theis Raiford products do not contain synthetic preservatives, we rely on packaging to help with natural preservation.   Our product line is especially suitable for glass containers because they contain real essential oils. Essential oils are particularly volatile and by containing them in glass, they won’t pick up any plastic residues. Clear glasses are not ideal as light can easily penetrate through and degrade the quality of all natural ingredients that is why all of our Theis Raiford products that come in jars, vials or bottles are stored in amber glass.   When you are in the market for your skincare and are paying a pretty penny for organic products that contain essential oils think twice before buying them if they are not in glass!
